Like a filigree web of lines, Alexander Ponomarev’s “flying ship” floats in the sky, visible from afar—and symbolizes the Russian artist’s central theme: “the dream of wandering from infinity to infinity.” With no frame of reference, in a space where there is no top and no bottom, with invisible sails and masts jutting out in all directions, The Flying Ship in HÖHENRAUSCH persists in an unstable equilibrium. A poetic installation that stands for the departure to new shores of the imagination.
